The Henry Banner Family of Forsyth Co., NC

by Judy Stanley Cardwell
updated December, 2008!!

Henry Banner, b. ca 1727 came to Rowan County, NC (now Forsyth Co., NC), the Townfork Settlement, ca 1751. He is well documented in this area, after he arrived here. BUT WHERE DID HENRY BANNER COME FROM?? His first two land grants are in the name of Henry Bonner. The German Moravians called him Henry Benner. Henry signed his name Henry Banner. Research has been done on the Bonner and Benner families without any success. Henry was a large landowner in the area and at his death owned 18 slaves. He was well known as a tobacco planter. The first mention of tobacco in Forsyth County, NC was when the Moravians bought their tobacco plants from Henry Banner.

Any help on where Henry Banner came from will be appreciated and all emails will be answered. Thank you and I hope that you enjoy this web page dedicated to the illusive Henry Banner.
