1878 Nov 4- Franklin Co., Va. - Confederate Disability Request:
On the motion of Dennis P. Stanley the court
doth certify that he is permanently disabled from
manuel labor from the effects of a wound received
during the late war, and that he was a citizen
of this state at the time said wound was received
and that he has not received commusation therefor
from any other state, the United States, or under
the provisions of any act of the General Assembly
of Virginia allowing compusation to soldiers
maimed in war. The certificate of J. B. Greer MD in
relation to said wound is ordered to be certified
to the auditor of Public Accounts.

I hereby certify that I have examined Dennis P.
Stanley Co. B 57th Regiment Va. Infantry Confederate
States service who was wounded by gunshot at the
battle of Gettysburg 1863, one ball passing through
the thight just below the hip joint, injuring the bone,
another ball striking the tibea of the left leg just
above the ankle, leaving a chronic ulcerated sore to this
day, I consider Mr. Stanley permanently disabled
from manuel labor, either wound being sufficient to
incapicatate him from the ordinary duties of a
farmer which is his profession.
