1864 Mar 4 - Yadkin Co., NC - William Washington Garner; Co. B, 38th Regiment - William W. Garner enlisted at Camp Vance on 3-4-1864, and deserted on 4-11-1864. William Washington Garner, brother of Francis Armstead Garner was the son of John and Amy Stanley Garner. William W. Garner married Martha Reavis on 12-2-1858. She died in January 1863, leaving 3 small children. After Martha died William W. Garner married second Phobe Adams on 1-15-1868 daughter of Daniel and Martha Adams. 983

1863 Feb 15 - Yadkin Co., NC - Francis Armstead Garner, Co. B, 38th Regiment - Francis A. Garner lived in Yadkin Co., NC where he enlisted at age 24 on 2-15-1863. Wounded at Chancellorsville, Va. on 5-3-1863. Returned to duty prior to July 1, 1863, when he was reported missing at Gettysburg, Pa. Reported AWOL through Feb 1864. Returned to duty March- Apr 1864. Captured at Wilderness, Va. on May 5-6, 1864, and confined at Point Lookout, Md. Transferred to Elmira, NY on 8-10-1864. Released at Elmira on 6-16-1865 after taking the Oath of Allegiance. He was the son of John and Amy Stanley Garner, and was the brother of William Washington Garner. Francis A. Garner married Mary J. May, daughter of Henry and Jane May on 4-6-1871. 983
