1862 Mar 1 - Stokes Co., NC - Christopher enlisted as a private in the Civil War at age 35 in Stokes County. Christopher died of disease at in the Camp Winder hospital in Richmond, Virginia on 7 Jun 1862. 990

1847 Mar 4 - Stokes Co., NC - "The girl Emmeline Louisa Stanley living with Br. snd Sr. Holder at Bethania has applied to be present at instruction for confirmation and join the congregation. The committee has no objection to this. This girl was baptized some years ago by the Methodist preacher Bethel and the question was asked as to whether after receiving instruction she could be a communicant member without confirmation, if she asked for that. The conference seemed to be against that, but rather felt that confirmation was necessary since she had really still been a child when she was baptized but postponed the decision of this matter to see whether the girl would apply for communion. The conference had no objection to receiving her but recommended to Br. Hagan to discuss the matter first with her parents. "994

1863 Mar 1 - Stokes Co., NC - Latney volunteered as a Private in the Civil War age 28 in Company H, 22nd NC Regiment. He was furloughed on 60 days on January 15, 1864 at the General Hospital, Howard's Grove, in Richmond, Virginia. He was at home on furlough since July 1864. He did receive pay of $44.00 for service from September 1, 1863 until December 31, 1863. 1000

1861 Jun 1 - John enlisted as a volunteer in the Civil War in Company H, 22nd NC Regiment in Stokes County, NC. Enlisted by Hamilton Scales. He was sick most of his time in the Civil War and died at Liberty, Virginia on 8 Sept 1862. 1002
