1021. Lemuel Jackson "Lem" STANLEY, G Grandson. Born in Jun 1826 in Surry Co., NC. Lemuel Jackson "Lem" died in Surry Co., NC ca 1903, he was 76. Buried in Stanley Family Cemetery, Stoneyknoll.

Lemuel was a Justice of the Peace. He was a Sunday School teacher and steward at Stoneyknoll Meth. Ch. Cemetery, to which he walked every Sunday. He mined "pig iron" near the Fisher River and carried it to Statesville to sale. This trip took him four days and he used a four mule wagon. He is buried in a grave with a government civil war marker and an elm growing at the head of his grave. In the 1900 census, a granddaughter, Nevry Stanley, was living in his home. 216
