STRANGE Sr. & Mary "Polly" BLEDSOE, in Surry Co., NC.¹⁶²¹ Born on 8 Mar 1848 in Surry Co., NC.¹²⁹⁷ John R. died in Surry Co., NC on 3 Feb 1937, he was 88.¹²⁹⁷ Buried on 4 Feb 1937 in Strange Family Cemetery.¹²⁹⁷

John,Jr. apparently was a veteran of the Civil War, serving in Company "A", 28th Regiment of North Carolina Troops (the Surry Regulars), in the Confederate States Army(CSA). Pension records indicate this service. ²¹⁶

1900 - Surry Co., NC - John R. is on the census in the Marsh Townhip household #16 born Mar 1849 age 51 married 20 years farmer born NC, Amanda born Apr 1862 age 38 married 20 years 1 child born 1 child living born NC and Ceborn son born Jan 1882 age 18 single born NC. ¹²⁶⁰
