Granny Stanley Left A Priceless Legacy
: Granny Stanley was Mrs. Saffle Bet Stanley of Dobson. She died Monday, October 6, at 99. Her legacy was one of love. She gave that unstintingly to her daughter, Mrs. George Marion of Dobson. . .and to her seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren, as well as her brother, Hassell Stanley of Route 7, Mount Airy, and sister, Mrs. Pat Becker of Kannapolis. She had made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Marion for 56 years. Anne Adams, writing in the Elkin Tribune several years ago about Granny Stanley, noted, "Granny's life had not been easy. She reared eight children after her mother died and missed out on schooling. "But she never missed out on love. Perhaps it was because she had so much to give. You see Granny has been totally deaf all her life. But what hear ears have been unable to hear, her heart has stored away. . . "
