Mrs. Stanley, 90, Succumbs - Funeral services for Mrs. Nelia Dockery Stanley, 90, of Dobson were held at 2 pm Thursday in the Davis Funeral Home and Chapel. Burial was in the Stanley Family Cemtery. She died Tuesday, morning, May 8, in the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Paul Jones, Route 2, Mount Airy, after a long illness. Born in Surry County, she was the daughter of Cal and Betty Setliff Dockery. Surviving are one daughter Miss Elsie Stanley of the home, four sons, Edgar Stanley of the home, Wendell Stanley of Arlington, Ford Stanley of Route 4, Mt. Airy and Cobert Stanley of Route 2 Dobson, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

William Richard Stanley, 98, of Mountain Park, died Wednesday morning, June 27, in Hugh Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin.Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Moody Funeral Home in Dobson, conducted by the Rev. Russell Nixon. Interment was in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born March 31, 1886 in Surry County, he was the son of Richard and Elizabeth Baker Stanley. A retired farmer, he was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Opal Nixon of Thurmond, Mrs. Callie Medley of Danville, Va. and Mrs. Pauline Hayworth of Gainesville, Fla.: five sons, Grover Stanley of Mount Airy, Everett Stanley of Lone Star, Tex., Junior Stanley of Alachua, Fla., Chester Stanley of North Elkin and Gilbert Stanley of North Wilkesboro; 13 grandchildren 24 great - grandchildren; two great - great - grandchildren.

MT. AIRY - Mrs. Vissie Stanley Beamer, 80, of 1220 South Franklin Road, Mt. Airy, widow of Charley M. Beamer died Friday afternoon at the Presbyterian Home in High Point after a long illness. She was born in Surry County, daughter of the late Richard Johnson and Elizabeth Baker Stanley. She was a retired seamstress and was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Surviving are five daughters Mrs. Glenn (Margaret) Kerns of High Point, Mrs. Edward (Gypsy) Dumas of Conway, S. C., Mrs. Bobby (Annie Ruth) Simmons of Mt. Airy, Mrs. Boyd (Frances) Priddy of Thomasville and Mrs. Dwight (Mildred) Matthews of Yadkinville; two brothers, Willy R. Stanley of Thurmon and Morgan G. Stanley of Mt. Airy; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren. Funeral service Sunday at 3:30 at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with burial to follow in the Bear Creek Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Moodys from 7:00 to 9:00 Saturday night. The family requests that memorials be made to the Surry County Chapter of American Cancer Society.

He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church at Dobson and was a retired carpenter and furniture worker. Surviving are his wife Vissie Stanley Beamer; five daughters Margaret Kearns of High Point, Mrs. Gypsy Dumas and Mrs. Annie Ruth Simmons of Mt. Airy, Mrs. Frances Priddy of Thomasville and Mrs. Mildred Matthews of Yadkinville; and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Calloway of Lowgap and Mrs. Thursia Williamson of Mount Airy.

Mrs. Georgia Fulk Stanley, 94, formerly of Pilot Mountain and Mount Airy, the widow of Mr. Morgan Stanley, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at her residence at Arbor Acres Retirement Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Stanley was born Aug. 5,1909, in Surry County, the daughter of the late D. C. and Savannah Riddle Fulk. Mrs. Stanley was retired from the Mount Airy City Schools and the Surry County Schools, where she taught music and third grade. She was member of the Pilot Mountain Friends Meeting. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stephen and Becky Stanley of Greensboro and Phillip Stanley of Boston, Mass.; two grandchildren, Lynne S. Stewart and her husband, Terry of Lewisville and Barrett Stanley and his wife Joanna Blitch of Greensboro: two great-grandchildren, Eric Stewart of Fort Mill, S.C., and Brittany Stewart of Lewisville: and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bruce and Mary Fulk of Pilot Mountain, Clyde and Mattre Fulk of Pilot Mountain and Max Fulk of Winston-Salem. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by a son, Donald Stanley; a grandson, Robert Stanley; a sister, Maude Trulove; and a brother, Bob Fulk, the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy, with burial to follow in the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. The Stanley family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Sunday evening, Aug. 1, at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Davis and Son Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
