Mrs. C. A. Chaney, 52, of Dobson, Route 2: Boonville - Mrs. Ivy Lydia Stanley Chaney, [5]2, died unexpectedly yesterday morning at her home, Dobson, Route 2. Mrs. Chaney, the wife of C. A. Chaney, was a native of Surry County adn spend her entire life in the same community. Surviving are the husband, one son, Albert Chaney of Dobson; one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Mitchell of Elkin; two grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Lydia Stanley of Dobson, Route 2; and six brothers W.R., Jody, Soloman, Rufus and Kinney Stanley, all of Dobson, Route 2, and Gernie Stanley of High Point; and five sisters, Mrs. Grover Hall, Mrs. Genie Stanley, Mrs. Sally Bet Hall, Mrs. Marvin Hardy and Mrs. John Stanley, all of Dobson, Route 2.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Friday at Mount Herman Baptist Church. The Rev. J. L. Powers and the Rev. T.S. Draughn will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

DOBSON - Clifton Albert Chaney, 78, of Dobson, Rt. 2, died yesterday at Lula Conrad Hoots Memorial Hospital at Yadkinville. The funeral will be at 2 pm Monday at Mount Herman Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Chaney was born in Surry County to Albert and Ida Anthony Chaney. He was a member of Mount Herman Baptist Church and was a retired farmer. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Bradley W. Bartholomew of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. W. E. Norman and Mrs. Ralph Scott of Winston-Salem and Mr. Iris Haire of Greensboro; and a brother, Luther Chaney of Greensboro. The body is at Angell-Long Funeral Home at Boonville.

DOBSON - Mrs. Gertha Hardy Stanley, 84, of Rt. 3 Dobson, widow of the late Rufus H. Stanley, died early Monday morning, Jan. 1, 1996 at Oak Summit Nursing Home in Winston Salem after being in declining health for four years. Mrs. Stanley was born in Guilford County May 24, 1911 to the late Wesley and Senia Brindle Hardy, was a member of Mount Herman Baptist Church and was an accomplished seamstress and loved to work with her flowers and quilts. Surviving are two daughters and sons in law, Jerrie and Jimmy Tickle, and Marie and Hugh Marion, both of Winston Salem; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Mendenhall of Walkertown and Mrs. Alma Mounce of Elkin; three
brothers, Laban Hardy of Burlington, Roger Hardy of Dobson and Leo Hardy of Elkin. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Stanley was preceeded in death by a daughter, Evelyn Stanley; a granddaughter; Susan King; and a brother, Homer Hardy. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday Jan. 3, 1996 at Mount Herman Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Larry Stone with burial in the church cemetery. Her body will remain at Moody Funeral Home in Dobson until time to be taken to the church to lie in state one hour before the service. The family will have a visitation at the church following the service. Moody Funeral Home of Dobson is serving the Stanley Family.

DOBSON - Mr. Marvin Wilson Hardy, age 84, of Rt. 3, Dobson, died July 24, 1997, at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin. Mr. Hardy was born September 30, l9l2 in SurryCountytoJohnW. and Martha Wail Hardy. He was retired from the Surry County School System, a self-employed carpenter and a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Stanley Hardy. Surviving are a son, Alvin W. Hardy, and daughter-in-law, Brenda Hardy, of Dobson; three grandchildren, Rodney Hardy and wife, Laura Griffin Hardy, of Dobson; Karla Hardy of Mooresville, and Kimberly Hardy Bruce and husband, Marty Bruce, of Elkin; one great-grandchild, Sarah Elizabeth Bruce of Elkin; two sisters, Mrs. Mary White and Mrs. Joe (Gracie) Pridgen, both of Dobson; a special niece, Essie Barker; special nephews, Ralph Stanley, Chris Stanley and Adam Kavla. Special neighbors, Hessie Stanley, Roger and Annie Lee Hardy, Leo and Imogene Wood and Jim Stokes. Larry Stone and the Rev. Jimmy Tucker officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. and burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mt. Herman Baptist Church from 7 until 9 p.m. tonight. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mt. Herman Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund. Miller Funeral Service in North Wilkesboro is in charge of arrangements.
